Shows
The Bear (Hulu)
I finally did it, and I got it. I have thought about this show every day since I started watching and I am glad that I waited to watch it. This show follows Carmen, a famous chef who stopped his work and came to work in the family business. This show is chaotic, loud, fast, and high intensity and so much more than cooking, although they do, do it well. I’m at the end of Season 2, excited and nervous for Season 3. Also, the episode about Marcus taking a trip to Copenhagen is my favorite.
Emily In Paris (Netflix)
Sheeeee’s baccccck!!! The outfits are better, but the vibes are still a little goofy. But I eat this show-up, I think it’s fun! and I like that I’m still having fun watching. This season was slow but scenic although some stuff is played out. The plot needs to thicken and they found a way to do it this season. At this point Emily and Gabriel what are we doing? Is it cute anymore, not sure. There has been lore on the internet about a Sylvie spin-off. Which would be a mf-ing treat if it’s real. She carries and delivers consistently and I love her character and storyline.
Only Murders in the Building(Hulu)
I am such a fan of this show, its humor, and its cast. I think it is such an unpredictable pairing and love how much it works and how the story has unfolded over these seasons. It follows Charles, Oliver, and Mabel as they embark on solving a murder that takes place in their apartment building at the Arcadia. It is the type of show that will have you paying close attention to who could be the killer, and how they are getting away with it. So fun to watch alongside your friends and kiki.
How I Met Your Mother (rewatch) (Netflix)
I started rewatching this show as I was sewing my bag sample for my thesis project. I wanted something quick easy and familiar. And this checked the boxes and then some! It has been so nostalgic and refreshing to watch and makes me think about watching it growing up and understanding so little but enjoying it so much.
Kaos (Netflix)
STILL UNSURE. I think I like it. I downloaded it on our flight back to Ohio before our wedding. We threw it on and ended up watching a few episodes and cackling. I didn’t know what to expect about the show, I hadn’t heard much about it or anyone talking about it but it is unpredictable and entertaining! It’s giving a good place kinda mixed with Black Mirror, an interesting collaboration. Regardless, Love to see Jeff Goldblum anytime.
Movies
Death Becomes Her (Prime)
I don’t know how I’ve never watched this movie and how more people don’t talk about it. This movie is Camp with a capital C. Honestly serving C**T it was so vibrant and entertaining, I feel like I couldn’t look away. Meryl is SOOOO Gorgina alongside the beautiful Goldie Hawn and this plot was so creative and funky. It follows the two of them as old friends as they become jealous of each other’s careers, looks, and loves. It is such a fall time, Halloween watch.
The Super Mario Bros Movie - Netflix
Yes. I do like this movie haha. I love Mario and grew up playing the slew of games on Wii, GameCube, Nintendo 64, you name it. Super Mario Sunshine on GameCube is my favorite and Mario Party 3 on DS. <3 The love runs deep in my family. This movie pays such a sweet homage to so many games and worlds that Mario exists in. On top of just being a really cute and wholesome way to share these characters. Since I haven’t played the games in years, it brings back so much nostalgia. If you watch it let me know, I’ve seen it 3 times now, also a perfect flight movie. ;)
Leo (Netflix)
Why is this movie so funny? How is Adam Sandler even funny as a Lizard? Fred and I watched this and were laughing out loud. The animation style was so cute and this movie has now become one of my favorites.
You’ve Got Mail(rewatch/ it is one of my fav movies) (Prime)
One of my favorite movies of all time and fall time. I wish there were like 15 Meg Ryan and Tom Hank movies to choose from. But for now, You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle will do. And they remain two of my favorites. This was a much-needed rewatch as the fall season is kicking off and the first watch for my husband so it was a must. I forget little pieces every year so it feels like such a gem to remember little moments as I watched. Fred rated it a 6.5/10 which honestly was higher than expected so we will take that as a win.
Books
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
One of my favorite books I have read. A little over halfway. I have cried and underlined so much. I can’t remember the last time I felt something so visceral. I feel like physical pain at certain points when reading this book. With school, it has been tough but I also don’t want it to end and might save it to be able to enjoy over the holidays with my family. There is a show based on the book, that I am so excited to read and check out also!
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Currently reading this book for class. It’s one of those books you can know so much about even if you’ve never read it. I feel like I knew so much but reading it has shown I know so little. I am not a classics girl myself but this book is funny, informative, hard at times, and interesting. It follows Huckleberry Finn a young white boy who is trying to run away from home and runs into a runaway slave, Jim and they journey together. The book is highly controversial and I don’t think I would make time to read it outside of class, but it’s something!
James by Percival Everett
I recently got to hear a reading from and meet Percival Everett. I’m a fan. I picked up Erasure finally as well as Dr. No. James follows the character Jim(based on Huckleberry Finn’s character). The book gives James a new life and I am enjoying the James that Everett has created and brought with this story. I think his writing is sharp yet funny, which is a tough thing to master. I also find James much easier to read when it comes to his writing style and hope that it might stand alone at some point rather than next to Huckleberry Finn.
Music
Feels so good - Chuck Mangione
The song I walked down the aisle too. ;) This was Fred’s grandpa’s favorite song <3 Now anytime I hear it I cherish the day and it is one of my favorite songs.
Side note: A live band was the way to go.
Alligator Bites Never Heal - Doechii
I have been a Doechii stan since 2020. This new album strikes in a way that is familiar to a fan but also so next level. I love seeing her gain more traction and recognition for her artistry over the years. This album deserves all of the acknowledgment it’s getting it is dark, sleek, sexy, and fly as all hell.
Favs so far, STANKA POOH, BOILED PEANUTS, DENIAL IS A RIVER, NISSAN ALTIMA, SLIDE <3
Short n Sweet - Sabrina Carpenter
The album is cuteeeee. I am a pop girlie so this summer has me tapped in with this, BRAT and The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. It’s summer for the gworls. This album is horny, flirty, and punchy in all the right places for me. I also enjoy the somewhat random country twang that happens halfway through.
Favs so far, Good Graces, Bad Chem, Juno, Please Please Please, Slim Pickens
Random but Good Things
I GOT MARRIED! With all my family and loved ones around me, still working to put the day and after-effects into words. Surreal, visceral, selfless, and the most love I’ve ever felt to state a few of them. I can’t stop looking at the photos that captured the day and reminiscing. It was the best and most memorable day of my life thus far.
Workspace Update
I got some new furniture and finally hung some posters up above my workspace and it might’ve been the kick I needed to enjoy working at home more. Or do I just love shopping for cute potential things to put on my desk? Either way, enjoying this new space and feeling so at home.
That’s it for now, thanks for hanging in there with me. Will see you soon with some new pieces and such. I would love to hear what you have been watching, doing, and enjoying at this time of year.
Lots of Love,
Little Mama
